| A Note About Our Recent Work ...
My Family has always loved the ocean. More precisely, the beach. There's a certain sense of wonder and overall joy spending time along America's coastlines. Whether it be the old-school history and quaintness of Jersey's coast towns, the sun drenched clear blue beauty of Florida's gulf coast, or the sheer desolate beauty of Northern California's vast beaches, I've felt humbled by the sheer magnitude of it all.
I stumbled upon an illustration a few years back entitled "The Giant" by N. C. Wyeth. It's held in the private collection of Westtown School, a Quaker private prep school near Philadelphia. The painting was commissioned back in the early 1900's to pay tribute to a former student at Westtown. Mr. Wyeth incorporated his own children in the piece which depicts a handful of beach gathered children gazing at the horizon line. The image they are looking at is that of a giant made from clouds. The children watch his gait as he ambles along the coast.
I realized a need to incorporate my own children into a similar scenerio. Hence, "At The Beach (Thank You, Mr. Wyeth)" was created. This work embodies things meaningful in my life... my children, whimsy and my relationship with Jesus Christ. Hope you like it....
